Keeping pace with nanotechnology innovation and the steadily increasing number of new nanomaterials requires availability of robust and efficient human health risk assessment approaches for ensuring safety of novel nano-enabled products. New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) - comprising any technology, methodology or approach that can provide useful information to support chemical risk assessment without the use of animal tests (e.g. in silico, in chemico, in vitro) – have an enormous potential in this respect. NAMs4NANO, a research effort funded by the European Food Safety Authority (GP/EFSA/MESE/2022/01) subdivided in 3 lots with a 4-year duration, focuses on unlocking the potential of NAMs in supporting the risk assessment of nanomaterials applied in the food and feed sector. To reach this goal, 13 EU and non-EU research centres cooperate under the coordination of BfR, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Lot 1-2) and ISS, the Italian National Institute of Health (Lot 3). In Addition to the mandatory event registration on the official website at the LINK, partecipants are also invited to complete the participation form from this session at this other LINK.
