Exploring the Nanoscale: Flow Cytometry Methods and Applications for Nanoparticle Characterization
Co-organised with ISS
Chairs: Valentina TIRELLI & Franco CARDONE, ISS

Nano–flow cytometry is an advanced frontier of flow cytometry, enabling identification and characterization of nanoparticles (NP).
This session explores cytometric methodologies for NP detection and characterization, integrating biological, technological, immunological and environmental perspectives.
Interest in this approach stems from its high sensitivity, throughput and predictive potential in biomedical field, where NP act as biomarkers or nanocarriers for targeted therapies, and from the rising relevance of micro and nanoplastics as contaminants.
Emphasis will be placed on innovative strategies to probe the nanoscopic domain, including high resolution sorting and immunophenotypic approaches, and on correlating quantitative detection with functional effects in cellular models. Environmental exposure to micro /nanoplastics will be addressed, outlining current analytical challenges and priorities for standardization and future research.

In Addition to the mandatory event registration on the official website at the LINK, partecipants are also invited to complete the participation form from this session at this other LINK
