Microfluidic technologies are transforming analytical systems by exploiting unique micro- and nano-scale phenomena. Their small dimensions and high level of integration enable advanced analytical strategies, including strong localized fields, controlled diffusion, and highly parallelized analyses, providing capabilities beyond conventional methods. Microfluidic platforms also support the miniaturization and automation of laboratory workflows into compact lab-on-chip devices, making complex procedures accessible to non-specialist users and suitable for remote or resource-limited settings, where sample preparation is often the main challenge. This session, “Advances in Sensors and Microfluidics for Environmental and Health Applications 2/2: Microfluidics & Biosystems,” will present recent advances in microfluidic and biosystem technologies, covering device design, fabrication methods, and emerging applications in personalized medicine. The session aims to showcase innovative solutions and discuss future directions for environmental and healthcare applications. |
