Space Missions and Nanotech: Advancements
Co-organised with Sapienza University of Rome & Thales Alenia Space
Chair: Danilo Dini, Sapienza University of Rome

The increase in number of space missions and envoy of satellites with various finalities of monitoring/control/connectivity has impacts of atmospheric/environmental type and can bring about orbital congestion, release of space debris as well as diffuse phenomena of radio interference. In this context it appears urgent to define, synthesize and assembly materials for the devices to launch, which limit their impact on the chemistry in the atmosphere (e.g. reactivity in the ozone layer), and in the phase of uncontrolled landing of residuals (e.g. dust from burning objects) with eventual effects on the atmospheric electricity. This session aims to gather all young material scientists that are involved in the nanotechnologies of characterization and of preparation of the materials constituting the devices to launch in the space missions. Particularly welcome are the contributions that deal with materials/device characterization procedures that simulate space conditions under controlled temperature and pressure.
