Nanotechnology strategies for CBRN risk mitigation and resilience 1/4
Co-organised with Sapienza University of Rome & CNR – Institute of Crystallography
Chairs: Luciano DE SIO, Sapienza University of Rome & Francesca PETRONELLA, CNR – Institute of Crystallography

The increasing complexity of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats requires innovative, multidisciplinary approaches for prevention, detection, and rapid response. Nanotechnology, enabled by nanomaterials, offers transformative solutions to address these challenges. This event aims to explore the latest advancements in nano-enabled systems for mitigating CBRN risks. Key topics will include highly sensitive detection platforms, smart materials for protective equipment, mobile laboratory facilities, and nanostructured agents for decontamination and neutralization. Special attention will be given to integrating nanomaterials and advanced materials into portable, real-time sensing devices and their role in enhancing early warning capabilities. By bringing together leading researchers, industry experts, and policymakers, the event will foster dialogue across various disciplines to bridge the gap between fundamental science and operational deployment. The event seeks to highlight cutting-edge research and practical applications, ultimately advancing the development of resilient, nano-enabled strategies to safeguard public health, critical infrastructure, and security personnel against evolving CBRN threats.
