Where has Nanotechnology Engineering taken you? Nanotechnology is a scientific and technological field of great interest—one that is steadily rising and becoming increasingly attractive for a growing number of applications. Given that ‘There's plenty of room at the bottom’ (R. Feynman), while it is true that virtually ‘the only limit is imagination’, it is equally true that working in nanotechnology requires a solid foundation and broad-ranging expertise in STEM disciplines - encompassing both general knowledge and a specific focus on the nanoscale. It was with this vision that in 2008 the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome established the Master’s degree program in Nanotechnology Engineering, offering two tracks: one in Italian and one for international students.
We wish to take stock of the situation and consider where nanotechnology has led our students – now our alumni. This session brings together contributions from alumni who, by outlining their career paths, show where nanotechnology has taken them - in academia and/or industry, in national and/or international contexts.
